Is there nothing I can do myself? I asked Nintendo UK if I can perform their special reset procedure on my own (I'm a technical engineer myself, after all. I just want to wipe the thing and crack on with playing games instead of feeling like I'm borrowing someone else's 3DS. Unlockers exist but not for the v7.0.0 firmware. Nintendo UK say they'll wipe it if I mail it in to their engineers but they won't unlock it over the phone as I might gain access to someone else's personal details that way (if there are indeed any there, like credit cards or something I guess?).
The seller doesn't know the pin either but was never bothered by this so never pursued it (seller bought from some naff shop somewhere, I've asked them where, just waiting for reply). I bought a 3DS XL on eBay and I'd like to wipe it completely, but its parental lock is engaged. My friend bought a used 3DS (EU) but not even the seller knows the pin, I found a master key generator thing but it requires an 8-digit inquiry number and his has 10 digits.
Hope this is an acceptable post (sorry if not). Still would like to know if there is an answer to the below, though - it might help someone else out.
